One of the first things you should do as a PR major is make an appointment with SOJC student advising. They are #amazing and will map out a graduation plan – a path that highlights what to take, term by term. Learn more about the team here!
In addition, during the second class in the sequence, J352, we require all students to meet with their public relations faculty adviser. When it’s time to make an appointment, or if you simply want to reach out pro-actively, please reference this sheet with the ways to contact faculty.
Please note: this requirement is to meet with your specific PR faculty adviser, not someone in SOJC students services/advising. The meeting is to accomplish four things:
- To start developing relationships with PR faculty and to know we’re a resource.
- To get a sense when you’re planning to take PR-specific courses (helps us plan).
- To make sure you’re aware of all PR-specific extra-curriculars.
- To start discussing your professional goals and strategies to reach them.
